2022 Sportsbreaks.com Tour series

Round One – Monday 2 May – Guisborough

One Hour + 5 laps - Women’s start 4pm, Men 6pm Guisborough will host the opening round of the Tour Series for the second year running when it welcomes to the UK’s leading televised cycle race series on Bank Holiday Monday (2 May). The market town hosted the first-ever Yorkshire round of the team-based series in August 2021, which saw dramatic victories for eventual men’s champions Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling and the talented Great Britain Under-23 women’s team. Following a day of community-focused events, the professionals will battle it out for glory on the same 1.4-kilometre (0.8-mile) circuit centred around the historic Westgate, Gisborough Priory and St Nicholas Church.

Round Two – Wednesday 4 May – Galashiels

One Hour + 5 laps - Women’s start 7.30pm, Men 5.30pm Galashiels will welcome Britain’s leading male and female cyclists for the first time when it hosts the Tour Series, the fun, free and family-friendly cycling event, in May. The historic Scottish Borders town, famed for its links to the textile industry, will host round two of the leading televised cycle race series on Wednesday 4 May. It will be the first time that the event has come to the Scottish Borders. This new-for-2022 round will take place on a technical circuit, which starts and finishes adjacent to the idyllic Bank Street gardens.

Round Three – Tuesday 10 May – Sunderland

One Hour + 5 laps - Women’s start 7.30pm, Men 5.30pm Sunderland will welcome the Tour Series, Britain’s leading televised domestic cycle series, once again on Tuesday 10 May 2022. The historic North East city first welcomed the event last year, hosting a round that attracted a crowd of 5,000 people, and saw eventual women’s series champions CAMS – Basso and men’s runners-up Canyon dhb SunGod take the victories. Round three of this year’s series will take place on the same 1.3-kilometre circuit centred around Mowbray Park that featured in 2021.

Round Four – Thursday 12 May – Stranraer

One Hour + 5 laps - Women’s start 4pm, Men 6pm Stranraer will welcome Britain’s leading male and female cyclists when it hosts the Tour Series in May. The Toon will host round four of the leading televised cycle race series on Thursday 12 May, adding to Dumfries & Galloway’s already strong ties to the sport. Last year’s Tour Series Grand Final took place in nearby Castle Douglas, while the popular cycling region has previously hosted eight Tour of Britain stage finishes, most recently in Kirkcudbright three years ago.
