Join us for the 11th edition of the Gran Fondo Stelvio Santini in 2023. The 2023 Gran Fondo Stelvio Santini date is Sunday June 4th, 2023 (TBC). The start and registration are in Bormio and the finish is on top of the fearsome Passo Stelvio. There are 3 routes on offer – short (60km), medium (137.9 km) and long (151.3 km). The short route ascents 1950 meters, The medium route ascents 3053 meters and the long distance ascents 4058 meters. This means there is a route for every type of cyclist!

Your Gran Fondo Weekend

Our travel package to the GF Stelvio is for 4 nights and includes a hotel stay in Bormio on half board basis. Giro stage winner Andrea offers guided bike rides in the run up to the event. Airport transfers from Milan are included. Guaranteed entries (£80) include the Gran Fondo Stelvio Santini jersey and bike rental (from £140) is also available. We offer a 3 or 4 night stay. If you arrive on Thursday, join us on our guided ride of the classic Mortirolo and Gavia loop on Friday. You can't come all this way and not ride the Gavia!

A great Weekend package

Included with our packages is a 3 or 4 nights stay in Bormio on half board. We also include supported, guided rides plus support on Gran Fondo day which includes a day bag service and a transfer back to the hotel from the top of the Stelvio. Optional and at additional cost, you can also add the Gran Fondo entry (all distances), bike rental and airport transfers.

Ride with Giro d'Italia stage winner Andrea Ferrigato in the Italian Alps. Enjoy some guided warm up rides in the days leading up to Gran Fondo day to make the most of your trip. It's not part of the Gran Fondo route but you you can't come here and not ride the Gavia Pass so we will include it on our warm up rides.

The Gran Fondo is your opportunity to climb the famous Passo Stelvio and Mortirolo in one epic ride. This great Gran Fondo is celebrating its 11th anniversary in 2023 and it has 3 distances available that all finish on top of the Stelvio.

Itinerary

Thursday

Please meet us in Bormio today. Alternatively use our transfer from Milan Bergamo Airport this morning at 11.00 (available at £80pp return). We aim to arrive at Bormio at approximately 14:30. Our mechanic will assist to get the bikes ready. Our first warm up ride is a 25km bike ride to Bormio 2000. Evening meal at the hotel.

Friday

Same itinerary as Thursday. For yesterday's arrivals, breakfast followed by a longer warm-up ride. We will guided you on the classic Mortirolo and Gavia loop from Bormio.

Saturday

Today we will do a shorter ride A shorter ride to the Cancano, nicknamed the ‘Mini Stelvio’. Race pack collection and preparation for the Gran Fondo.

Sunday

After an early breakfast it's Gran Fondo day. Take on the Mortirolo and the Stelvio. Day bag and refreshments available at the top. Later afternoon pack bikes for travel and celebrate.

Monday - Departure day

We will run one airport transfer to Milan Bergamo today at 08.00 for flights departing after 13.00 (available at £80 return). If you book a flight at any other time, either earlier or later, please contact us directly to discuss private transfer options.

Meet our Head Guide in Italy - Andrea Ferrigato

Andrea Ferrigato is affectionately known by his former teammates and friends as “Ferri” for his legs of “Steel”. Andrea has recorded an estimated 650000 miles in his cycling career and he’s still not done yet! Ferri has had a professional career spanning 15 years. He competed 8 times at the Giro d’Italia and 4 times at the Tour de France. He was a stage winner of the Giro d’Italia (1994) and his best year was 1996. In that year he won the Leeds International Classic and the Grand Prix of Switzerland.

Andrea remains very passionate and thankful for his career and is keen to share this passion with other cyclists. Andrea has participated himself in several epic rides in Italy and other European Countries. He loves to ride the Strade Bianche in Tuscany and Dolomites during the Giro d’Italia and is eager to ride alongside other riders who share his passion. When he is not riding his bike he works on his farm and he spends time with his family. He supports the passions of his children which are motocross for Lorenzo and athletics for Nia.
