The TCS Amsterdam Marathon is a World Athletics Platinum Label Road Race which is renowned for being one of the fastest courses in the world. In the ranking of fastest marathon cities, the largest marathon in the Netherlands is in fourth place. Highlights of the course include the start and finish in the Olympic Stadium, the passage through the Rijksmuseum and along the Heineken Experience, stretches along the Amstel and through the Vondelpark. The half marathon & 8K will take place on the same day, also finishing in the Olympic Stadium. Marathon Tours & Travel can offer you guaranteed entry in addition to our packages.
Amsterdam has so much to offer; museums, canals, cobbled streets and pretty quaint cafes to wine and dine. Getting round is easy, on foot, bicycle, train, bus or tram and is one of the safest cities in Europe!
Marathon Tours & Travel Amsterdam Marathon packages include a conveniently located 4* hotel (new for 2024) with breakfast for 3 nights or more. We also offer entry into all distances plus various opportunities to meet with fellow runners. Amsterdam South train station is only 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel, from which you can access Schiphol Airport by direct train in 6 minutes. Perfectly positioned for race day the marathon runners pass our hotel in the 7km/8km area, 21km and 8km runners can easily be seen at various points close by and the race start/finish area is within easy walking distance. We invite you to take part in warm up runs, pre-race pasta dinner and celebrations and the Marathon Tours & Travel team will be on hand for guidance and support to make your trip a success.

Amsterdam is fascinating with plenty to see and do. The itinerary below reflects the 3 nights package and allows you the time to enjoy the city. Adding extra nights is recommended to enhance your experience.
Arrival Day, Welcome Meet and greet & Shake-out Run
Make your own arrangements to arrive at Crowne Plaza Amsterdam South today. Usually, hotel rooms are ready to check in after 3pm. If you arrive earlier you can leave your luggage with the hotel and explore your surroundings while you wait for the room to be ready.
If you wish to visit the Expo to collect your race registration pack, please do so (instructions will be provided with the final itinerary). The International Marathon Expo is open today between 10:00am and 20:00pm.
Early this evening Marathon Tours & Travel invite you to join us in the hotel lobby before leaving for an optional run in the local area. It will acquaint you with the local area and shake-out any travel tiredness. The run will be easy and at a pace comfortable for all fitness levels. It also offers a perfect opportunity to ask questions and get to know fellow runners!
Saturday 19th October, 2024
Expo & Pasta Dinner
After breakfast we will escort you to the Expo to collect your race registration pack. However, if you wish to make your own way there or register later when we have dinner please feel free to do so. Instructions will be provided with the final itinerary. The International Marathon Expo is open today until 19:00pm. Your race pack must be collected today.
The rest of the day is at your leisure. Marathon Tours & Travel team will be happy to suggest some sightseeing options.
Later today, at approximately 16:00pm please join us for a pre-race pasta dinner at the VIP International Pasta Party. In line with the global tradition, the evening before the marathon you can carb-load at the official pasta party in the VIP tent in the middle of the historic Olympic Stadium. This is included in your package and will ensure an excellent buffet pasta meal and drink in the company of your fellow runners. Marathon Tours & Travel will escort you to the venue.

Sunday 20th October, 2024
Race Day and Celebrations!
Breakfast at the hotel will be available from 06:30am. The start venue for the marathon, half marathon and 8km is outside the Olympic Stadium and is easily accessible in 15 minutes by a combination of train and walking or 25 minutes walking. Please leave plenty of extra time to make your way through the crowds to drop off your bag (if you chose this option) and to find your specific start pen. On arrival at the start please follow the instructions of the race officials, run and have fun!
The Marathon route passes by the Crowne Plaza Amsterdam South Hotel. Perfectly positioned for race day and to cheer on the runners.
After the race make your way back to the hotel, freshen up, celebrate…you deserve it! Trains can be chaotic, so its a benefit to be able to walk the short distance to your hotel.
This evening meet your Marathon Tours & Travel team, fellow runners and supporters to celebrate your achievement! More details will be provided on the final itinerary.

Room Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s policy is that anyone staying in our room block must be part of our package. If you plan to bring a spouse or guest, they must purchase our package. For example, if there are two of you, the rate would be the double occupancy rate (per person). If you purchase a single occupancy rate package, then only you are allowed in your room. To attend any of our activities, you must be part of our package.

The Crowne Plaza Amsterdam South hotel is located in a lovely area, surrounded by restaurants and pretty streets and only 5 minutes walk from Amsterdam South train station, which allows easy access to all areas of the city. Schiphol Airport can be reached by direct train from Amsterdam South in only 6 minutes. The hotel has free high-speed WiFi throughout, a gym, bar, restaurant and serves a delicious breakfast buffet.
Check-in from 15:00pm and check out up to 12:00noon.

Enter the Amsterdam Marathon with Marathon Tours & Travel
A flat, fast marathon course in the beautiful city of Amsterdam, this is definitely a race to talk to your running club about. Looking to set a new PB? What better place to do it than against the wonderous backdrop of Amsterdam.
Our hotel is located within easy reach of the race start and finish and you’ll also be invited to take part in warm up runs, join the international pasta party and pick your distance; Marathon, Half Marathon or 8K! Whichever distance you choose, our team will be on hand for guidance and support to make your trip a success.
Free T Shirt Included with Marathon Entry
We are very pleased to offer guaranteed entry into the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. Entry for the Half Marathon and 8K are also available (official race T-Shirt available as an extra price)
Eligibility: Marathon Tours & Travel, an authorised tour operator, is required to offer travel arrangements in conjunction with guaranteed race entry. All runners must be 18 years or older to participate in the marathon or half marathon and 14 years or older on race day to participate in the 8k.
Race Rules apply.
Number Pickup: You must pick up your race bib and packet at the International Marathon Expo prior to race day.
Temperature: Average temperatures on race day are around 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Marathon
Course
Starting and finishing at the Olympic Stadium, the marathon course is fast, flat and leads runners through the sights and sounds of Amsterdam.
Race Time: 09:00 – 09:30am
Minimum Pace/Cut-off Time Policy:
The time limit for the Marathon is 6 hours. The finish in the Olympic Stadium closes at 17:00pm. This following km-points should be reached at:
- 5 km – 10.12 hours
- 10 km – 10.54 hours
- 15 km – 11.36 hours
- 20 km – 12.19 hours
- 25 km – 13.01 hours
- 42,195 km – 17.00 hours
Runners who are reached by the sweeper vehicle, based on the passing-time table, and will therefore certainly exceed the time limit will be called upon by a member of the jury to leave the race and, for reasons of safety, get into the broom wagon. Should you decide to continue the race, despite the request of the jury member, you do so at your own risk. Remember, the course will be opened to traffic again once the broom wagon has passed. The water points and medical care points will also be removed, and it will no longer be possible to end in the Olympic Stadium. If you are removed from the race, you will not be eligible for a medal.
Awards: Every finisher receives a medal.
The Half Marathon
Course
Starting and finishing at the Olympic Stadium, the half marathon is the biggest in the Netherlands and consists of one loop, most of which passes through the centre of Amsterdam. The course is fast, flat and leads runners through the sights and sounds of Amsterdam.
Race Time: 13:00pm – 13:50pm
Minimum Pace/Cut-off Time Policy: The time limit for the half Marathon is 3 hours.
Awards: Every finisher receives a medal.
The 8k
Course
Starting and finishing at the Olympic Stadium, the 8k is part of the marathon course. You can expect to pass the Rijksmuseum, Vondelpark before finishing at the Olympic Stadium in front of the grandstand.
Race Time: 09:45am – 09:50am
Minimum Pace/Cut-off Time Policy: The time limit for the 8k is 1 hour. After 10:55am, finishing in the Olympic Stadium is no longer possible.
Awards: Every finisher receives a medal.

How to Book
To make your booking, click on the button at the top of the page, ensuring that you select the correct number of rooms and types for all members in your party, plus all the required extras. When you book, we will require a deposit to confirm your place.
Payments
When you confirm your booking, we will take a deposit payment. Subsequent payments are taken automatically.

Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is an essential part of any holiday you take, and we highly recommend that you purchase suitable insurance for your trip. You must ensure that your travel insurance policy also covers you to participate in running events.
Security Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s security policy requires that anyone staying in our room block must be registered as part of our package. If a registered client attempts to house a non-registered guest and /or invite them to attend any of our scheduled activities, the registered guest’s tour package will be forfeited and parties may be denied access to future tours. Please note that no exceptions will be made as this policy will be strictly enforced.
Race Rules and Terms of Participation
Our itinerary and details regarding the race are based on current information available at the time this package was released for sale. Whilst we expect the details to remain correct, changes are possible and will be confirmed nearer to the trip after the race organisers have confirmed final instructions. Please note the official Amsterdam Marathon T-Shirt is included in the entry fee. The T-Shirt is not included in the 21K or 8K entries. Merchandise can be pre-purchased at the time of registration or at the Expo.
Starting Pens and Bib Numbers
Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the Amsterdam Marathon events we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.
Closer to the event we will send you instructions which will allow you to complete the registration process for your chosen Amsterdam Marathon event. Once you have finalised the registration process, the race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information provided.
