Rome - The Eternal City - the perfect place to get the experience you're looking for. What could be more inspirational than starting a marathon, at the start of the day, from the home of the gladiators - The Mighty Colosseum. And once you've ran those 42km, the imposing facade of The Colosseum will be waiting to greet you at the finishline.

Your Itinerary 

Depending on the length of stay you have booked with us you might arrive before or depart on different days to the following itinerary. The itinerary below reflects the 2 nights package which due to the arrival on Saturday excludes the orientation run. Rome is fascinating with plenty to see and do so we recommend extra nights to receive full experience. Our Friday arrival, 3 nights package including orientation run can be booked here.

Saturday 18 March, 2023 : Travel to Rome and Preparation Day

Make your own arrangements to arrive at Hotel Lancelot in Rome today. Usually, hotel rooms are ready to check in after 12.30pm. If you arrive earlier you can leave your luggage with the hotel and explore your surroundings while you wait for the room to be ready.

What about my race bib collection?

Rome Marathon race bib must be collected from the Marathon Expo – location and opening hours are to be advised. Included with the bib will be a souvenir bag and technical t-shirt.

Our staff in Rome will do a guided trip to and from the Expo if required. Time will be provided with your final documents and itinerary.

How do I contact Marathon Tours & Travel staff during my stay?

Marathon Tours & Travel staff will be available at certain times in the reception area of the hotel. Times and contact numbers will be provided with your final documents and itinerary.

You are free to enjoy Rome at your leisure. Hotel Lancelot is ideally situated for shopping and sightseeing. Please ask at hotel reception for maps of the many walking or jogging routes that surround the hotel and take in the sights such as the Colosseum and Botanical Gardens. Other areas of the city can easily be reached on foot or by train or bus. 

Or if prefer you are welcome to sit and relax in the hotels bar/lounge/patio area or soak up the local neighbourhood vibe, exploring the many bars and trattorie. 

Tonight at 19.30pm the hotel will serve a 3 course evening meal, including wine and coffee.

Sunday 19 March, 2023 : ACEA Run Rome The Marathon

This is the day you have trained so hard for! 

Take an early breakfast in the hotel before making your way to the race start, which is only a short distance away...

How do I get to the race start?

The race start on Via dei Fori Imperiali next to the Colosseum. It is only a 5 to 10 minutes walk from Hotel Lancelot.

On arrival at the start please follow the instructions of the race officials. 

2023 ACEA Run Rome The Marathon 

Exact details of the Rome Marathon will be advised later but we expect the race to start around 9 am. To receive your Rome Marathon finishers medal, you must complete the race within the 6 hours 30 minutes time limit. 

Family and friends who did not enter the marathon?

The race start and finish area is only 5 minutes away so you could easily cheer on the runners as they start and finish or you could take a train to venture out to other parts of the route to support and spectate.

After the race make your way back to the hotel, freshen up, celebrate…you deserve it!

Hotel Lancelot is approx. 5 to 10 minutes’ walk from the race finish at the Colosseum.

Monday 20 March, 2023 : Departure

Unless you have booked extra nights with us then today, we ask that you check out of your room before 11.00 am. We trust that you will have enjoyed your Rome Marathon experience and wish you a pleasant journey home.

How to book

To make your booking, click on the orange button at the top of the page, ensuring that you select the correct number of rooms and types for all members in your party plus all the required extras. When you book, we will require a deposit to confirm your place.

Payments

When you confirm your booking, we will take a deposit payment. Subsequent payments are taken automatically.

The cost of the event entry is non-refundable.

GUARANTEED ENTRY

We are pleased to offer you guaranteed entry for the 2023 Rome Marathon. You can buy the entry at an additional cost if you also buy the accommodation package with us.

Minimum age for event participation

The minimum age to participate in the marathon is 20 years

Non-competitive entry

Participation is allowed for non-Italians living abroad, who are not members of a Sports Club affiliated with World Athletics (former IAAF), signing an ad hoc waiver form. The race time will not be displayed in the general leader board but will rather only be available next to the Athlete's name, in alphabetical order, in a separate result table and the Athlete will not be able to win any prizes. Time limit to finish the marathon is 6h30’.

Competitive entry

Competitive runners or Italian citizens who are not members of a national athletic federation affiliated with World Athletics (former IAAF) or FIDAL are required to purchase a RunCard and provide a medical certificate. If you are not able to obtain the above, please sign up as a non-competitive runner.

Official Time LImit

The Rome Marathon has a time limit of 6 hours 30 minutes. If you want to get your finishers medal you'll have to base your training around this time or quicker.

Starting Times and Bib Numbers

Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the 2023 Rome Marathon, we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.

Closer to the event we will send you instructions which will allow you to complete the registration process for the Rome Marathon. Once you have finalised the registration process, the race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information you provide.

All race rules must be followed.

 

Location

In Rome, history and art stand at every corner, needless to say there are innumerable museums and galleries to choose from. Hotel Lancelot staff will be happy to assist you in reserving or buying tickets for your preferred option.  Museums and sites are generally closed on Monday but in recent years many of them remain open. Please note that tickets can be purchased up to an hour before closing time.

Roma Pass – Tourist card The 'Roma Pass' card is valid for 48 hours or 72 hours and includes free  access to the public transport system, free admission to one or two museums or sites and reduced ticket prices for exhibitions and cultural events. You can purchase the 72 hours 'Roma Pass' card directly at the Hotel Lancelot or go online for other options.
