Depending on the length of stay you have booked with us you might arrive before or depart on different days to the following itinerary. The itinerary below reflects the 3 nights package. Edinburgh is beautiful with plenty to see and do so we recommend extra nights. Optional tours can be arranged. Please click here for our 2 nights package, arriving 27th May.
Saturday 27 May, 2023
Make your own arrangements to arrive at our hotel in Edinburgh today. Usually, hotel rooms are ready to check in after 2pm. You can leave your luggage with the hotel and explore your surroundings while you wait for the room to be ready.
Our hotel includes breakfast after each night’s stay.
Welcome orientation ‘walk and talk’ around Edinburgh
At 6pm Marathon Tours & Travel staff invite all our guests to join us for walk from the hotel (duration approx. 1 hour). We will visit some points of interests, related to both the race and city.
Event Number
All entrants who have registered with a UK address (all events) and international entrants (5K & 10K) will receive their event number directly by post in May. Marathon Tours & Travel staff will collect all 42K and 21K event numbers for entrants that have an address outside the UK. We will hand these out on Saturday at your hotel.
How do I contact Marathon Tours & Travel staff during my stay?
Marathon Tours & Travel staff with local knowledge of Edinburgh will be available at certain times in the reception area of the hotel. Times and contact numbers will be provided with your final documents and itinerary.
Today, the EMF 5K and 10K take place. The start and finish of both races are at Holyrood Park which is just a 10 minute walk from our hotel. Starting and finishing near the EMF Hub at Dynamic Earth, both events feature beautiful, scenic routes in Holyrood Park in the heart of Edinburgh.
Event Number
All 42K and 21K entrants who have registered with a UK address will receive their event number directly by post in May. Marathon Tours & Travel staff will collect all event numbers for entrants that have an address outside the UK and hand these out on Saturday at your hotel.

Optional Dinner
This evening we will host an exclusive pre-race dinner at the hotel or a nearby restaurant. The cost is £35 per person. If you are interested, please book and pay with Marathon Tours & Travel, an option to book will appear when you book your package.
Sunday 28 May, 2023: The Edinburgh Marathon and Half Marathon
This is the day you have trained so hard for! Early breakfast is arranged in the hotel.
How do I get to the race start?
From the hotel it is approximately a 20 minute walk to the race start area in Holyrood Park Road. On arrival at the start please follow the instructions of the race officials.
Family and friends who did not enter the marathon.
You can travel by foot or public transport in your own time and pace to support and spectate along the race route. The Marathon Tours & Travel team will be happy to advise.
How do I get to my hotel from the race finish?
- Finish is in Musselburgh at the Pinkie Playing Fields (EMF shuttles run back to the centre, tickets are available to purchase in advance)
- Buccleuch Place is finish shuttle stop and is approx. 10 minutes’ walk to our hotel
