Your Experience

The UCI Gran Fondo World Championships first took place in 2011. Due to 2020 being cancelled the event held its 10th edition in Sarajevo in 2021. In 2022 the World Championships take place in Trento, Italy.

Every year one event is nominated to host the World Championship. The UCI Gran Fondo World series is a series of events in different countries that allows amateur cyclists to qualify for the World Championship by finishing in the top 25% in their age category. There are two disciplines; the individual time trial plus the Gran Fondo.

For the Gran Fondo, in 2022 there are 3 routes; the ITT, Gran Fondo and the Medio Fondo. The courses are based on those of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series event La Legendaria Charly Gaul. The 141 km Gran Fondo will be tackled by male and female riders below the age of 60 and 50 respectively. The 57 km Medio Fondo will be for men over 60 and women over 50. Both routes start in Trento city centre and finish in Vason at 1.650 meters altitude. The ITT is the same for all age groups and it starts and finishes in Trento.

  • ITT : 19.6km – 80m ascent
  • Medio Fondo : 57km – 2000m ascent
  • Gran Fondo : 141km – 4000m ascent
