Your Itinerary
Friday 14th October – Arrival day
Make your way to Amsterdam and on arrival check into hotel Novotel. From the airport, take the train to RAI station and the hotel is a 5-minute walk away.
Hotel Novotel Amsterdam City is located in a quiet part of Amsterdam with good transport links into the city centre and to the Amsterdam olympic stadium.
Usually hotel rooms are ready after 3pm; if you arrive earlier please be prepared to leave your luggage with the hotel concierge and head off to the Marathon Expo to collect your race documents. It's a short journey on public transport from Amsterdam RAI station to get to the Expo at the Sporthallen Zuid.
The Expo has plenty to see and do so allow plenty of time to collect your race documents, shop from the many exhibitors, listen to the experts on stage and enjoy the pre-race day vibe. The Expo is open between 10.00 – 20.00 today.
The rest of the day you can relax and prepare for race. If you have any questions, please meet with one of the Marathon Tours & Travel Team in the hotel lobby.
Saturday 15th October – Expo, Registration and Good Morning Run
This morning, you can take part in the Good Morning Run (pre-bookable at extra cost). From the hotel, walk over to Rai station and take the tram into the city centre. You’ll be there in about 20 minutes.
Good Morning Run
The guides from Tourist Run Amsterdam will lead you through Amsterdam in groups of 10 to 15 people, where you can enjoy all the tourist and historical attractions. Two beautiful routes are available for you. The 3.3K route (about 2 miles) will take you along the canals, the Flower Market, The Rembrandtplein and Museumplein. The 6.5K route (about 4 miles) will include the canals, the Dam square, the Skinny Bridge and the Museum square. The guides will run at an easy pace. It is not a race, so enjoy!
- The start is between 9.00 and 9.30 (every minute one group will depart);
- Start and finish is at the Museumplein, near the Rembrandt van Gogh kiosk
Part of the registration fee includes a wristband as proof of participation, medical support, a consumption voucher and afterwards a bottle of sports drink and a bar. You can also download a group photo with your guide at www.touristrunamsterdam.com.
The MARATHON EXPO takes place in the sports venue Sporthallen Zuid. Several top brands will be present to offer the newest athletic wear, shoes and other accessories at attractive prices and there is catering. Next to the Marathon Expo, there will be a cosy indoor terrace meeting point. A total of over 50 national and international exhibitors are taking part. Sponsors and suppliers to the TCS Amsterdam Marathon will also be present.
- Thursday 13 October - 13.00 - 20.00 hours
- Friday 14 October - 10.00 – 20.00 hours
- Saturday 15 October - 10.00 – 18.00 hours
- Sunday 16 October - 07.00 – 13.00 hours
From the hotel, walk 5 minutes to RAI station and take the train to Amstelveenseweg. It takes just 17 minutes and trains depart every 6 minutes. Alternatively its approximately 40 minutes walk.
After attending the expo, put your feet up and relax ahead of the event tomorrow or attend the INTERNATIONAL PASTA PARTY which takes place inside the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium (pre-bookable at extra cost).
In line with the global tradition, the evening before the marathon you can top up your fuel stores at a lavish pasta party in the VIP tent in the middle of the historic Olympic Stadium. You can book your place at the party when registering for the event. We guarantee an excellent meal for £20 (including one drink).
There are three sittings:
- 16.30 – 17.45 hours
- 18.00 – 19.15 hours
- 19.30 – 21.00 hours
Sunday 16th October – RACE DAY
This is the day you have trained so hard for! After an early breakfast please get ready to leave the hotel. The TCS Marathon starts at 09.00 hours.
Starting areas
The starting areas are on the field inside of the Olympic Stadium. After entrance through the marathon gate you will be directed to your starting area. Each starting area corresponds with an expected finish time. The colour on the bib number corresponds to your permitted starting area.
The marathon gate opens at 8.15 hours. You must be on the field by 8.50 hours at the latest. After this time the entrance to the stadium will be closed. There is a limited number of toilets in the starting area, we advise you to use the toilets outside the Olympic Stadium.
No clothing can be left in the stadium. Any clothing left in the stadium will be removed the moment the race starts.
Family and friends can travel by public transport to support and spectate along the race route. The Marathon Tours & Travel team will be happy to advise. After the race make your way back to the hotel, freshen up, celebrate…you deserve it!
The Amsterdam Half Marathon
The Mizuno Half Marathon is the biggest Half Marathon of the Netherlands and is part of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. The Mizuno half marathon consists of one loop, most of which passes through the attractive centre of Amsterdam. The course starts at the Stadionweg and goes through Churchilllaan, Rijnstraat and the Utrechtse Bridge over the Amstel river. Next you run through Watergraafsmeer and Zeeburg. The rest of the course is the same as that of the full marathon.
The Mizuno Half Marathon starts at 13.00 hours at Stadionweg near the Olympic Stadium.
Clothing drop-off
Participants in the Mizuno Half Marathon can find their drop-off point on the square in front of Sporthallen Zuid. The service is free but we are not responsible for any stolen or missing items. It is not allowed to take loose items of clothing into the stadium. The clothing drop-off is opened from 12.00 until 17.00 hours.
Monday 17th October - Departure day
Unless you have booked extra nights with us then today is the day you check out of your room and we say thank you for joining us. It’s not goodbye but instead we’ll see you next time as we hope you will join us for another Marathon Tours & Travel
