Your Itinerary
Depending on the length of stay you have booked with us you might arrive before or depart on different days to the following itinerary. The itinerary below reflects the 3 nights package. Venice has plenty to see and do so we recommend extra nights and optional tours.
Friday 21 October, 2022 – Travel to Venice
Make your way to Venice. From the airport, there is a bus service or for more convenience and comfort pre book private transport with us. Both our hotels are located in Mestre and easily reached by train or road. If you arrive in the morning leave your luggage with the hotel and head off to the Marathon Expo to collect your race documents.

The expo is located inside San Giuliano Park, walking distance from our hotels. Open today until 8.00pm
How do I contact Marathon Tours & Travel staff during my stay?
Staff with local knowledge of Venice and the race will be available to you at certain times. A contact number will be provided with your final documents and itinerary.
The rest of the day and evening is free for you to enjoy at your leisure.
Saturday 22 October, 2022 – Preparation Day, Pasta Party and optional Sightseeing Tour
Relax and enjoy Mestre and Venice at your own pace.
What about my race bib collection?
If you didn’t have time to collect your race bib yesterday please do so today. The expo is located inside San Giuliano Park, walking distance from our hotels. Open today 9.00am until 8.00pm
At 3.00pm there is an optional sightseeing tour which can be prebooked with us. Together with an expert tour guide you can explore the most beautiful and unusual corners of Venice, one of the most famous cities the world, known for beauty and culture. An archipelago of 120 islands closed in the lagoon, between the coast and the open sea. Starting from Piazza San Marco, the guide will show you the most important monuments of the city centre.
At 7.00pm join the pasta party, where you can taste different types of pasta and salads and to finish up with… a sweet “crostata”!
Sunday 23 October, 2022 – Venice Marathon, Half and 10km
This is the day you have trained so hard for!
How do I get to the race start?
After an early breakfast you will leave from your hotel for your chosen race. On arrival at the start please follow the instructions of the race officials.
Those who run the Venice Marathon - 42 km
The race starts from the Village of Stra (a small town about 25 km west of Venice). At 7.00am you will leave your hotel for your journey to Stra. The transfer is included and guidance will be given.
Those who run the 21 km
The race starts from Mestre Piazza Ferretto which is easily accessible by foot or public transport from either of our hotels.
Those who run the 10 km
The race starts from San Giuliano Park which is easily accessible by foot or public transport from either of our hotels.
Family and friends who did not enter any races?
You can travel by foot or public transport in your own time and pace to support and spectate along the race route. The local staff will be happy to advise.
After the race make your way back to the hotel, freshen up, celebrate…you deserve it!
How do I get to my hotel from the race finish?
After the race, to return from the finish area, ferry service from Venice Giardini to Venice Tronchetto (fruit and vegetables market area), from 1:00pm to 4:15pm and then buses from Venice Tronchetto to Venice Mestre (railway station). Mestre station is next to Hotel Tritone and easily accessible by foot or public transport to Hotel Venezia.
