Your Itinerary

Depending on the length of stay you have booked with us you might arrive before or depart on different days to the following itinerary. The itinerary below reflects the 3 nights package. Venice has plenty to see and do so we recommend extra nights and optional tours.

Friday 21 October, 2022 – Travel to Venice

Make your way to Venice. From the airport, there is a bus service or for more convenience and comfort pre book private transport with us. Both our hotels are located in Mestre and easily reached by train or road. If you arrive in the morning leave your luggage with the hotel and head off to the Marathon Expo to collect your race documents.

The expo is located inside San Giuliano Park, walking distance from our hotels. Open today until 8.00pm

How do I contact Marathon Tours & Travel staff during my stay?

Staff with local knowledge of Venice and the race will be available to you at certain times. A contact number will be provided with your final documents and itinerary. 

The rest of the day and evening is free for you to enjoy at your leisure.

Saturday 22 October, 2022 – Preparation Day, Pasta Party and optional Sightseeing Tour

Relax and enjoy Mestre and Venice at your own pace. 

What about my race bib collection?

If you didn’t have time to collect your race bib yesterday please do so today. The expo is located inside San Giuliano Park, walking distance from our hotels. Open today 9.00am until 8.00pm

At 3.00pm there is an optional sightseeing tour which can be prebooked with us. Together with an expert tour guide you can explore the most beautiful and unusual corners of Venice, one of the most famous cities the world, known for beauty and culture. An archipelago of 120 islands closed in the lagoon, between the coast and the open sea. Starting from Piazza San Marco, the guide will show you the most important monuments of the city centre.

At 7.00pm join the pasta party, where you can taste different types of pasta and salads and to finish up with… a sweet “crostata”! 

Sunday 23 October, 2022 – Venice Marathon, Half and 10km

This is the day you have trained so hard for! 

How do I get to the race start?

After an early breakfast you will leave from your hotel for your chosen race. On arrival at the start please follow the instructions of the race officials. 

Those who run the Venice Marathon - 42 km

The race starts from the Village of Stra (a small town about 25 km west of Venice). At 7.00am you will leave your hotel for your journey to Stra. The transfer is included and guidance will be given. 

Those who run the 21 km

The race starts from Mestre Piazza Ferretto which is easily accessible by foot or public transport from either of our hotels.

Those who run the 10 km

The race starts from San Giuliano Park which is easily accessible by foot or public transport from either of our hotels.

Family and friends who did not enter any races?

You can travel by foot or public transport in your own time and pace to support and spectate along the race route. The local staff will be happy to advise. 

After the race make your way back to the hotel, freshen up, celebrate…you deserve it!

How do I get to my hotel from the race finish?

After the race, to return from the finish area, ferry service from Venice Giardini to Venice Tronchetto (fruit and vegetables market area), from 1:00pm to 4:15pm and then buses from Venice Tronchetto to Venice Mestre (railway station). Mestre station is next to Hotel Tritone and easily accessible by foot or public transport to Hotel Venezia.

Race Entry

We are pleased to offer you guaranteed entry for the 2022 Venice Marathon. You can buy the entry at an additional cost if you also buy the accommodation package with us. Subject to availability we can also request entries for the Venice Half Marathon and 10km distances.

Starting Times and Bib Numbers

Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the 2022 Venice Marathon, we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.

Closer to the event we will send you instructions which will allow you to complete the registration process for the Venice Marathon. Once you have finalised the registration process, the race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information you provide.

Registration & Bib Collection

Athletes will be able to pick their race numbers up in person at Exposport Venicemarathon Village located in San Giuliano Park in Mestre. For organizational reasons, under no circumstances it will be possible to receive the bibs in advance or pick them up on the day of the race. Detailed information on how to get to Exposport Venicemarathon Village will be given on the confirmation letter or on the official website www.venicemarathon.it. The timetable of the exhibition will be the following: 

• Friday, 21st October from 10:00am to 8:00pm 
• Saturday, 22nd October from 9:00am to 8:00pm 

To get the bib-number it will be necessary to hand out the following documents: 

• an identity card / passport 
• the confirmation letter via smartphone 
• all the documents to complete your registration (if requested from the confirmation letter) 

If the athlete is unable to provide said documents, the Organizing Committee will not hand out the race number.

Minimum age for event participation

The minimum age to participate in the marathon or half marathon is 20 years

Supporting Documents

To take part in the 2022 Venice Marathon or Venice Half Marathon you must complete and sign the Venice Marathon liability waiver form which includes a medical declaration fit to participate. 

If you’d like to take part in the race and be eligible to win prizes and prize money you will need to purchase a runcard. 

Venice Marathon Start & Finish details

Race starts from 09h40 in Stra (exact start time will be decided the day before the race, according to organisation needs and TV broadcasting).

The finish line is in Venice, in Riva dei Sette Martiri.

21km mark: 2h45

30km mark: 3h50

Maximum time - finish: 6h00

Venice Half Marathon Start & Finish details

Race starts from 09h00 in Piazza Ferretto, Mestre (exact start time will be decided the day before the race, according to organisation needs and TV broadcasting).

The finish line is in Venice, in Riva dei Sette Martiri.

10km mark: 1h10

Maximum time - finish: 2h30

Venice 10km Start & Finish details

Race starts from 08h30 in Exposport Venicemarathon Village – San Giuliano Park in Mestre (exact start time will be decided the day before the race, according to organisation needs and TV broadcasting).

The finish line is in Venice, in Riva dei Sette Martiri.

Maximum time - finish: 1h45

How to book

To make your booking, click on the orange button at the top of the page, ensuring that you select the correct number of rooms and types for all members in your party plus all the required extras. When you book, we will require a deposit to confirm your place.

Payments

When you confirm your booking, we will take a deposit payment. Subsequent payments are taken automatically.

The cost of the event entry is non-refundable.

Venice is one of the most famous, beautiful and unique Italian cities known in the world for beauty and culture. An archipelago of 120 islands closed in the lagoon, between the coast and the open sea.

Mestre is an area just outside the island of Venice. A more affordable neighbour and more residential in character. That being said it has many positives in its favour. Piazza Ferretto is Mestre’s main square and the centre of Mestre.  Piazza Ferretto has a wide variety of restaurants with outdoor seating, high-end stores and boutiques which surround the beautiful water feature and sculpture at its center.  A perfect place to be and perhaps savour a  cappuccino or a scoop of gelato. Piazza Ferretto is also home to the Teatro Toniolo, a theatre and considered an important architectural landmark, Teatro Toniolo is the hub of the arts, with its symphonies, theater, dance, and comic performances.

Mestre has a long historical past and in that time the city has built some revered and notable churches. Chiesa di San Girolamo is one of those churches. Loacted in the centre and built in 1261, Chiesa di San Girolamo is one of the oldest churches in Mestre.

San Giuliano Park is the largest park in Europe and offers something for everyone, from walking and biking paths to wonderful views of the Venice Lagoon, the Liberty Bridge, and the city of Venice across the water. It is a great place to relax.
