Your Itinerary

Thursday 1st June, 2023: Travel to Bormio

Please make your own arrangements to either arrive in Bormio or meet us at Milan Bergamo Airport. We will run one transfer from the airport today at 11.30 (£80 return). Please book a flight that lands before 10.30, to allow you to get through passport control and collect your luggage. The transfer takes approximately 3 hours so we will get to Bormio for about 14.30.

What about my bike?

You can bring your own bike as we have made arrangements to transport bike boxes on our airport transfers. Alternatively, you can rent a bike with us for the weekend. Our mechanic will be available this afternoon at the hotel to assist you with fitting your rental bike or building your own bike after travel. Bikes can be safely stored at the hotel.

Our Hotel

We are staying at Hotel Nevada in Bormio. Our hotel is located within minutes of the start of the Gran Fondo. The hotel is booked on a Half Board basis, with breakfasts and evening meals included. You will also have free access to the following:

  • Access to the Spa and Wellness centre
  • Laundry service for cycling kit
  • Secure bike store

Guided ride

This afternoon, join us on our first ride; a 25km guided ride to Bormio 2000.

Late afternoon and early evening, our tour leaders and bike mechanics are available for you. We will have an evening meal together at the hotel.

Friday 2nd June, 2023: Warm up ride 1 or arrival day

For those arriving today it's the same itinerary as Thursday.

For yesterday's arrivals, it's breakfast followed by a warm-up ride. There are multiple options available:

  1. The classic Mortirolo / Gavia loop can be done by choosing a more relaxed ride from Grosio or a more challenging ride from Mazzo
  2. A 75km ride with two climbs. This is a more comfortable ride than the first option

This afternoon you are free to enjoy the hotel’s facilities and we will have the evening meal together at the hotel.

Saturday 3rd June, 2023: Warm up ride 2

After breakfast and any final bike adjustments, we will take you on a supported, guided ride. A short coffee spin has been organised to keep your legs moving, but nothing too strenuous the day before the sportive. We propose a shorter ride to the Cancano, nicknamed the ‘Mini Stelvio’.

Registration & Expo

Race pack collection and preparation for the Gran Fondo. The expo is just a short walk from our hotel. This afternoon and early evening, our tour leaders and bike mechanics are available for you.

Race Briefing

This evening our bike guides will do a race briefing to run through GF Stelvio race day logistics and of course the route. We will have an evening meal together at the hotel.

Sunday 4th June, 2023: The Gran Fondo Stelvio Santini

Today is the day! We have an early start this morning. Early breakfasts are arranged in the hotel restaurant.

Getting to the start

It’s just a short roll out from our hotel to the start line. Please make your own way to the start this morning, based on your own start time. Our staff will be on hand this morning if you have any last minute mechanical issues, or if you need directions to the start line.

Day Bags and the finish

At the finish it can be very cold, even in June. With this in mind, we’ll be at the finish line with our vehicle, so you can have a day bag waiting for you for when you finish. You can place some warmer, winter clothes in there for your descent ride back to Bormio. We’ll collect the day bags from you before you set off in the morning.

We’ll also have some food and drink ready for you when you finish.

Post Ride

We’ll meet you for post ride beers at the hotel from 17.00.

We will have an evening meal together at the hotel this evening, where you can share tales of your exploits.

Monday 5th June, 2023: Departure

We will run one airport transfer to Milan Bergamo today. We depart from the hotel at 08.00, for flights departing from Milan Bergamo after 13.00 (allowing for a 3 hour transfer and 2 hour check-in).

If you book a flight at any other time, either earlier or later, please contact us directly to discuss private transfer options.
