Depending on the length of stay you have booked with us you might arrive before or depart on different days to the following itinerary. The itinerary below reflects the 3 nights package. Berlin has plenty to see and do so we recommend extra nights.
Friday 31 March, 2023 : Travel to Berlin and Expo
Make your own arrangements to arrive at Hotel indigo Berlin Ku’damm in Berlin today. Usually, hotel rooms are ready to check in after 3pm. If you arrive earlier you can leave your luggage with the hotel and explore your surroundings while you wait for the room to be ready.
What about my race bib collection?
Berlin Half Marathon race bib must be collected from the Marathon Expo at Flughafen Tempelhof - opening hours are to be advised. Included with the bib will be a timing rental chip.
It’s just a 10 minute walk to the train station and from there approx. 15 minutes by trains. Our staff in Berlin will do a guided trip to and from the Expo if required. Time will be provided with your final documents and itinerary.
Flughafen Tempelhof – Venue of the Berlin Half Marathon Expo
The former Airport Tempelhof is one of the most spectacular and historically significant event locations in the world. The building ensemble is being used for different events since 2009 - with an impressive number of events and visitors. Trade fairs, music and sport events also take place in Europe’s largest monument as well as product presentations, gala dinners and award ceremonies. Already in 2012 there were more than 1,000 applications from event organisers. In addition, there were 200 interested parties, who wanted to take pictures and video-shoot. In 2012, more than 60 events were organised with more than half a million visitors. Since October 2015, a few hangars as well as parts of the apron are being used as temporary emergency refugee accommodation and are not available for renting for events. Moreover, the main hall, the heart of the event location, offers place for your events as well as photography and video-shooting.
How do I contact Marathon Tours & Travel staff during my stay?
Marathon Tours & Travel staff will be available at certain times in the reception area of the hotel. Times and contact numbers will be provided with your final documents and itinerary.
The rest of the day and evening is free for you to enjoy Berlin at your leisure.
Saturday 1 April, 2023 : Preparation Day with optional Orientation Run
After breakfast Marathon Tours & Travel staff invite all our runners to join us for an easy orientation run. The route will take you from hotel to the start and finish area and is not expected to be longer than 5km. Supporters are very welcome to join too.
Race bib collection
If you didn’t collect your bib yesterday, please do so this morning. There is no possibility of bib collection on race day. Our staff in Berlin will be happy to escort you to and from the Expo this morning if required. Time will be provided with your final documents and itinerary.
You are free to enjoy Berlin at your leisure. Hotel Indigo Berlin Ku’damm is ideally situated for shopping and sightseeing. Close to Tiergarten Park you could also enjoy some relaxing hours in the park. Other areas of the city can easily be reached on foot or by train or bus.
Or if prefer you are welcome to sit and relax in the hotel or soak up the local neighbourhood vibe, exploring the many bars and restaurants.
Sunday 2 April, 2023 : Berlin Half Marathon
This is the day you have trained so hard for!
Take an early breakfast in the hotel before making your way to the race start, which is only a short distance away...
How do I get to the race start?
The race start area is less than 30 minutes, either on foot or combination of train and walking. Your bib number provides you with free train travel to the start today.
On arrival at the start please follow the instructions of the race officials.
2023 Berlin Half Marathon
You share the start area with the inline skaters who start from 9.30am and will be completely out of sight before the Berlin Half Marathon then starts in waves from 10.05am. To receive your Berlin Half Marathon finishers medal, you must complete the race within the 3 hours 15 minutes time limit.
Family and friends who did not enter the half marathon?
The 2km and 11km spectator areas of the half marathon route are only 10 minutes’ walk away from Hotel Indigo Berlin Ku’damm and the finish area is 25 minutes away. Perfectly positioned for race day and to cheer on the runners.
After the race make your way back to the hotel, freshen up, celebrate…you deserve it!
How do I get to my hotel from the race finish?
Hotel Indigo Berlin Ku’damm is less than 30 minutes from the race finish near Brandenburg Gate. Your bib number provides you with free train travel from the finish today.
Monday 3 April, 2023 : Departure
Unless you have booked extra nights with us then today, we ask that you check out of your room before 12pm. We trust that you will have enjoyed your Berlin Half Marathon experience and wish you a pleasant journey home.
