Friday 8th March 2024: Arrival Day

Make your own arrangements to arrive at your hotel in Barcelona today. Usually, hotel rooms are ready to check in after 3pm. If you arrive early, then you can leave your luggage with the hotel and explore your surroundings while you wait for the room to be ready.

Runners must pick up their race number at the Expo, located at Fira de Barcelona in Montujic, either today or Saturday between the hours of 10:00am – 8:00pm. There is no possibility of bib collection on race day.

The Barcelona Marathon Expo is the biggest sports show in Spain and admission is free and open to anyone who loves running and sport in general. Many top brands, products and service providers will be on display for you to chat to and/or buy from. 

Please ensure you have email confirmation of your registration along with personal ID to collect your bib number.

Marathon Tours & Travel staff will be available during your stay in Barcelona. Times and contact numbers will be provided with your final documents and itinerary.

Saturday 9th March 2024: Preparation Day with optional Breakfast Run

Today there is an opportunity to participate in the Breakfast Run. You should register in advance as numbers are limited to 2,000. This fun run starts from the Magic Fountain of Montjuic and finishes 4kms later inside the Olympic Stadium where refreshments and a small breakfast is available. Marathon Tours & Travel team will be happy to accompany anyone who wishes to join this event, fun guaranteed! Supporters are very welcome to join too.

Today you will have another opportunity to visit the expo if you were unable to attend on Friday.

This evening, enjoy an included pasta dinner, to help fuel for the big day, before an early night and a restful sleep. 

Sunday 10th March 2024: The 2024 Barcelona Marathon

This is the day you have trained so hard for! The Barcelona Marathon starts from 8.30am and is a 42.2km tour of Barcelona and we know it will be an experience you will not forget. Your training is now done, the race is here and soon you will be wearing a well-deserved medal! Head to the race start to get into your race corral one hour prior to your starting wave, a 12 minute journey on the metro.

Family and friends not racing, you can travel by foot or public transport in your own time and pace to support and spectate along the race route. The Marathon Tours & Travel team will be happy to advise.

After the race, make your way back to the hotel, freshen up, celebrate… you deserve it! This evening get together with Marathon Tours & Travel Team and your fellow runners and supporters to celebrate.

Monday 11th March 2024: Departure

Unless you have booked extra nights with us then today, we ask that you check out of your room before 12 noon, and we say thank you for joining us. It’s not goodbye but instead we’ll see you next time as we hope you will join us for another Marathon Tours & Travel.

The Course

The course itself passes by some of the most iconic landmarks in Barcelona, such as the Sagrada Familia (church) and Camp Nou (football stadium) and because it takes place early in Spring, the weather conditions are ideal. The course is relatively flat, with the most noticeable climb coming in the final kilometres as you make your way inland away from the port. Because of the way the more modern areas of Barcelona were designed, there are plenty of wide, straight sections along main roads. Runners will be expected to complete the marathon in 6 hours.

How to Book

When you confirm your booking, we will take a deposit payment. Subsequent payments are taken automatically.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is an essential part of any holiday you take, and we highly recommend that you purchase suitable insurance for your trip. You must ensure that your travel insurance policy also covers you to participate in running events.

Race Rules

Our itinerary and details regarding the race are based on current information available at the time this package was released for sale. Whilst we expect the details to remain correct, changes are possible and will be confirmed nearer to the trip after the race organisers have confirmed final instructions. All race rules and procedures need to be followed.

Starting Pens and Bib Numbers

Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the 2024 Barcelona Marathon, we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.

Closer to the event we will send you a link which will allow you to complete the registration process for the 2024 Barcelona Marathon. Once you have finalised the registration process, the race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information provided.

Security Policy

Marathon Tours & Travel's security policy requires that anyone staying in our room block must be registered as part of our package.  If a registered client attempts to house a non-registered guest and/or invite them to attend any of our scheduled activities, the registered guest’s tour package will be forfeited and parties may be denied access to future tours. Please note that no exceptions will be made as this policy will be strictly enforced.
