Travel
Make your own arrangements to arrive at your chosen hotel today. Our team will be available to meet you at the hotel. If you plan to fly then we offer airport transfers for you, your luggage and your bike.
Our hotels and apartments
We offer hotels and apartments with different star ratings. Board basis is B&B, Half Board and self catering. If you have breakfast included then you will have an early breakfast on Etape du Tour day
What about my bike?
You can bring your own bike as we will make arrangements to transport bike boxes on our airport transfers. Alternatively, you can rent a bike with us for the weekend. Our mechanic will be available this afternoon at the hotel to assist you with fitting your rental bike or building your own bike after travel. Bikes can be safely stored at the hotel.
This afternoon and early evening, our tour leaders and bike mechanics are available for you. The evening is free for you to eat out if you don’t have evening meal included at your hotel. Or you can join us for our group meal night.
Saturday : Preparation and registration day
After breakfast and preparing the bikes, we will take you on a supported, guided ride.
Depending on the location of the Etape du Tour village, you may need to register and collect your race pack today. In 2022, we delivered entries to Alpe d’Huez.
We’ll be back at the hotel in the afternoon for you to rest and get prepared for tomorrow. This evening our bike guides will do a race briefing to run through Etape day logistics and of course the route.
The evening is free for you to eat out at a local restaurant or join us at our group meal night.
Sunday : The 2023 Etape du Tour
We have an early start this morning. Early breakfasts are arranged in the hotel restaurants. Those who have booked self-catering residences need to ensure they prepare their own breakfasts this morning.
Transfer to the start
Depending on the route, you may be able to just ride to the start or there may be a transfer needed.
For those of you who have driven from the UK or who have rented a car, please ensure that you leave plenty of time to get to the start and find your start pen.
The 2023 Etape du Tour
The Etape du Tour start is done in waves. You will be allocated a start pen with a time that you have to enter the pen plus a start time. Previous editions have started between 07:00 and 08:30. The Etape du Tour is a race with cut off points. You need to have passed certain points on the route at a certain time otherwise you will be eliminated from the route. If you’re eliminated your bike will go on a bike trailer and you will be transported to the finish.
This afternoon and early evening we’ll assist you with re-packing your bikes ahead of travel and you’ll also be able to return your rental bikes with us.
This evening, join us for our party at a local bar or restaurant.
Monday : Departure
After breakfast we offer our optional transfers back to the nearest airport. In 2022 we offered Lyon or Geneva airport. We advise you not to book any early flights as it will be a mega early start (factor in a 2 hour check-in, plus transfer time from resort)
