Friday 2 June, 2023: Travel to Milan
Please make your own arrangements to meet us in Milan or meet us at Milan Malpensa Airport. We will run one transfer from the airport today at 11.30. Please allow an hour from your flight landing time to your transfer time, to allow you to get through passport control and collect your luggage.
What about my bike?
You can bring your own bike as we have made arrangements to transport bike boxes on our airport transfers. Alternatively, you can rent a bike with us for the weekend. Our mechanic will be available this afternoon at the hotel to assist you with fitting your rental bike or building your own bike after travel. Bikes can be safely stored at the hotel.
We are staying at Ibis Hotel Milano Est Settala in Milan. Our hotel is located within minutes of the start of the Gran Fondo. The hotel is booked on a Half Board basis, with breakfasts and evening meals included.
Late afternoon and early evening, our tour leaders and bike mechanics are available for you. We will have an evening meal together at the hotel.
Saturday 3rd June, 2023: Warm up ride
After breakfast and any final bike adjustments, we will take you on a supported, guided ride. A short coffee spin has been organised to keep your legs moving, but nothing too strenuous the day before the sportive.
Registration & Expo
Race pack collection and preparation for the Gran Fondo. The expo is just a short ride away from our hotel. This afternoon and early evening, our tour leaders and bike mechanics are available for you.
This evening our bike guides will do a race briefing to run through GF Milan Sanremo race day logistics and of course the route. We will have an evening meal together at the hotel.
Sunday 4th June, 2023: The Gran Fondo Milan Sanremo
299km with 2000m of climbing
The Gran Fondo Milan – Sanremo cicloturistica covers the 299km that separate Milan from Sanremo, re-tracing the same roads as the Spring Classicissima. There are a couple of slight differences at the start and the finish. The starting point has been changed from the Castello Sforzesco in Milan to the south of the city, in Pieve Emanuele in order to avoid the traffic of the Lombardy capital, and the arrival is in Lungomare Salvo d’Acquisto in Sanremo rather than on the Corsa Roma. The rest of the route is absolutely faithful to that followed by the professionals.
Check out the route here
The Granfondo Milan – Sanremo cicloturistica follows the same routes of the Classicissima of the centennial, with the legendary climbs of Turchino, Cipressa, and Poggio that have given this event its mythical status.
PASSO DEL TURCHINO - 3.2km, 373m of climbing with an average gradient of 1.4% and a max gradient of 6%
CAPO MELE - 2.5km, 104m of climbing with an average gradient of 5.2% and a max gradient of 6%
CAPO CERVO - 2.5km, 110m of climbing with an average gradient of 4.1% and a max gradient of 5%
CAPO BERTA - 3km, 128m of climbing with an average gradient of 4.3% and a max gradient of 8%
CIPRESSA - 5.6km, 226m of climbing with an average gradient of 4.1% and a max gradient of 7%
POGGIO DI SANREMO - 3.7km, 137m of climbing with an average gradient of 3.5% and a max gradient of 6%
