Your Experience

Liège-Bastogne-Liège is the 4th Monument of the season. As it has been around for so long, it’s also called ‘La Doyenne des Classiques’ (the old lady of the classics). LBL marks the end of the Ardennes Classics period usually as Amstel Gold, Fleche Wallonne and LBL follow on from each other in a week. It also spells the end of the Spring Classics season as the next stop is the Giro d’Italia for many of the riders.

The professionals ride on Sunday and on Saturday it’s the turn of amateur riders to ride their LBL Challenge.

The Liege Bastogne Liege Sportive

The Sportive starts and finishes in Sprimont, 25 kilometres outside Liege.

The ultimate challenge is to cover the entire distance of Liège-Bastogne-Liège like the pros the following day. Famous hills such as the Côte de Saint-Roch (the wall of Houffalize), Côte de Wanne, and Côte de Stockeu will pepper the longest distance of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Challenge. Shorter distance sportives of 147 km and 70 km are also available.

The Liege Bastogne Liege pro race

The race is characterised by a relatively flat start from Liege and as many climbs as possible on the way back to Liège. The Côte de la Redoute, after 224 km in the legs and 37 km to go, is the hardest. It’s 2 km long at nearly 9% so the riders will feel every metre of it. The last classified climb is the fearsome Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons at 14km from the finish. In total, there are more than 4,500 metres of climbing, as much as a mountain stage of the Tour de France.

Please make your own arrangements to Liege or meet us at Brussels International Airport (Zaventem) and take our optional airport transfer.

Optional Airport Transfer: £50 per person return

What about my bike?

You can bring your own bike as we have made arrangements to transport bike boxes on our airport transfers. Alternatively, you can rent a bike with us for the weekend. Our mechanic will be available this afternoon at the hotel to assist you with fitting your rental bike or building your own bike after travel. Bikes can be safely stored at the hotel.

We will have your Sportive Entry available for you so no need to visit the expo today to collect your bib for tomorrow's LBL challenge. If you have hired a bike with us, we will take you to collect your bike.
