On Saturday 2nd September 2023, thousands of wine loving runners will again make their way through the vineyards north of Bordeaux for the Marathon du Medoc. Fancy dress is a must and every year there is different theme. In 2023 the theme will be “Gastronomy” so runners are encouraged to dress up like their favourite meal, a guaranteed feast for the eyes! Entries for 2023 are expected to go on general sale in April but they tend to sell out very quickly so guarantee your participation instead with Marathon Tours & Travel ahead of that time.

We offer both a 3-night and a 5-night tour to the Marathon du Medoc, with plenty to see and do for both runners and spectators. We have a private coach at our disposal all weekend and we stay at a 4 star hotel in Bordeaux. Friends are made every year at the welcome dinner and drinks on arrival on Thursday, and on Friday we enjoy a pasta party together at a local vineyard. Return private transport to the marathon is included on Saturday for runners and spectators.

Thursday 31 August, 2023 – Arrival in Bordeaux

Arrive into Bordeaux, make your own way to Hotel Mercure Chateau Chartrons in Bordeaux.

Welcome Dinner and Race Number Distribution

This evening we will have a welcome drink and buffet dinner at the hotel, followed by a briefing and race bib distribution.

Friday 1 September, 2023 – Day in Bordeaux & Pasta Party

Today is free for you to explore Bordeaux. You can easily spend all day in the Maison du Vin, a museum dedicated to all things wine related, which is within walking distance of our hotel. Alternatively, take a tram or walk along the riverside to visit the historical centre of Bordeaux.

Pasta Party

This evening, our coach will take us to a local vineyard, where we will have a hearty pasta meal before returning to our hotel.

Saturday 2 September, 2023 – Marathon Day

After an early breakfast you will be collected by coach and taken to Pauillac in time for the Marathon start at 09:30. Spectators are also invited to join us, and there are many activities and entertainment for spectators on the riverbank. Our coach will bring finishers and spectators back to our hotel in Bordeaux after the Marathon. The evening is free for you to have dinner in Bordeaux.
