Your Experience

The start of April is when the cycling world properly awakens from its winter slumber. There are all sorts of races taking place virtually daily across Northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands over this crucial period in the racing calendar, but two giant events stand out above all others.

The Ronde van Vlaanderen is Belgium’s biggest sporting event, boasting enormous television audiences and thronged roadsides. A week later, it’s the turn of the Queen of the Classics, Paris–Roubaix. Usually described as the world’s most famous one-day race, the “Hell of the North” has captured the public’s imagination for 120 years. The images of gaunt faces streaked with mud span the decades with a timeless quality that belongs indisputably and uniquely to Roubaix.

Both events have their own amateur cycling events taking place the day before on Saturdays. Amateur riders from all over the world come and test themselves on the same roads as the professionals the day after. Each Sportive offers a variety of distances from (nearly) full-distance challenges to shorter trips over the cobbles and bergs of Flanders and Roubaix.

Spend 12 days with us in Flanders and Roubaix on the ultimate spring classics cycling tour. Our team of local riders and mechanics will guide you around their home roads for an unforgettable experience. Not only will the cyclists in the group be well-looked after there is also plenty to do for those who don’t ride a bike themselves but are fans of this great sport.

During your tour, you will ride and watch the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. You will watch the Scheldeprijs. As well as this, we offer daily guided rides in their fantastic cycling region. Day 10 > Saturday 12th April 2025: Roubaix Challenge day

You will be able to see how the riders of the Men’s and Women’s cycling elite handle the cobbled sectors of Roubaix tomorrow. Today it’s your turn. 24 hours before the professionals, amateurs from around the world will have the opportunity to measure themselves against the legend of the Hell of the North with its mythical cobbled sections like the "Carrefour de l'Arbre" and the "Trouée d'Arenberg".

You have a choice of 3 sportive distances today. The 70km and 145km start and finish at the velodrome. After an early breakfast and preparing the bikes, we will guide you the short distance to the velodrome for the start.

The 170km long-distance Roubaix Challenge starts from the small town of Busigny. The entry fee includes transport to the start directly from our hotel if you book your entry with us.

All sportive distances finish at the Roubaix Velodrome. From here it’s just a short distance to get back to our hotel.

The premium 170 km event is back in 2024. However, the number of places is limited because Paris–Roubaix Femmes will be taking place on the same course and day as the Paris–Roubaix Challenge. This distance is accessible only to experienced cyclists, average speed required of 21.2 km/h over the 170 km course including around 50 km of cobblestones to arrive before 3:00 p.m. at the Velodrome.

The Hell of the North and its fabled cobbled sectors, including the Carrefour de l'Arbre and the Trouée d'Arenberg. There are three increasingly difficult routes on offer, on roads which are open to traffic but secured by numerous volunteers and motorcyclists. There is a legendary race for everyone, covering distances from 70km, 145km or 170km.

This afternoon and early evening we’ll assist you with re-packing your bikes ahead of travel and you’ll also be able to return your rental bikes. Unless you are using your bike tomorrow of course.

Evening meal at the hotel restaurant (included).

Day 11 > Sunday 13th April 2025: The 2025 Paris – Roubaix

You can join us on our guided, supported ride. Alternatively, if you want a really easy day, you can walk to the velodrome from the hotel in time for the finish.

Guided ride

After a relaxed morning, our bike guide will guide you out of Roubaix. We will ride to a venue on the route to watch the riders come past. Please note that choosing this option will mean that you’ll miss the finish.

Compiegne

Since 1977, Compiègne has been host to the start of Paris-Roubaix. Opposite the Palace, on the Place du Général de Gaulle, 25 teams will line up for the start of the «Queen of the Classics». 175 riders will be preparing to reach the Roubaix velodrome but just a few will be nourishing hopes of victory.

Roubaix Velodrome

A victory in Roubaix guarantees the rider his place in the rich history of cycling and his nameplate in one of the iconic shower stalls. On finally reaching Roubaix, the riders head to the town’s velodrome for one and a half laps in front of a crowd of enthusiasts. Whether the arena is the scene of a bunch sprint or a lap of honour by a solitary leader, it’s always an exceptional spectacle marking the fitting end to a perfect race.

You have access to the inner section of the velodrome to watch the finish and to see the riders up close.

Evening meal at the hotel restaurant (included).

Most international airlines fly into Brussels International Airport (BRU). The transfer from the airport takes about an hour but can be longer due to rush hour traffic around Brussels. Another Brussels airport is Brussels South (Charleroi) but there is less choice and it’s further away as it’s about 60km south of Brussels.

By Train:

SNCB is Belgium’s national railway company. Kortrijk can be reached by train from Brussels (45 to 50 minutes) and Gent (30 minutes).

By Car:

From the UK, drive via Brugge and Ghent to arrive at Kortrijk in just under two hours from Calais. From Brussels, there are two routes. The highway route involves taking the E40 towards Gent and merging onto the E17 toward Kortrijk.

About the Tour of Flanders

The Belgian town of Oudenaarde in the Flemish Ardennes is host to the Tour of Flanders. The town comes alive in spring when Flanders Finest puts the area on the world map of cycling again.

The final 75 kilometres are the toughest part of the race. The riders circle the area around Oudenaarde and ride cobble climbs like the Koppenberg, Hotond and of course the Oude Kwaremont and the Paterberg. Riders and fans eagerly look forward to the finale in the centre of Oudenaarde. The crowds in Oudenaarde eagerly await the arrival of the riders and watch the race unfold on large TV screens. The Donkmeer and the market square are turned into the epicentre of the cycling world for a couple of days every spring.

The day before the Tour of Flanders, thousands of sportive cyclists ride their own Tour of Flanders during the 'We Ride Flanders' Cyclo. Just like the riders the next day, amateur cyclists tackle the same Flemish ‘Bergs’ and cobbled sections. From about midday, thousands of amateur cyclists from Belgium and beyond cross the finish line in Oudenaarde. The crowds at the finish line can enjoy all that Oudenaarde has to offer.
