Your Experience

Montenegro combines the glamour of the Italian Lakes, the style of the Croatian coast & the remote beauty of the Pyrenees. In this six night tour we explore the Adriatic with nights in popular Budva & Kotor and head inland to the remote Durmitor national park for some quiet and glorious riding in the mountains. We finish with the iconic climb of the Serpentine Road above Kotor. The riding is rolling but never too hard, suitable for all regular road cyclists. We aim to ride all together (avg group size is 8-14) but often split into two each day accompanied by one of our guides. On the last day there is a 50km extension for those wanting one more climb.

Tour Highlights

Ride the Durmitor Ring: This stunning mountain region is full of empty roads, glaciers & amazing views.

Tackle the Serpentine Road: Rising sharply above Kotor, the Serpentine road contains 16 hairpins in 8km.

Visit glamorous Kotor & Budva: This tour mixes mountains and beaches. Kotor & Budva are two stunning towns on the Adriatic.

Two riding groups:

100km average daily with 1858m of climbing

90km average with 1635m of climbing

This six-night journey takes in the highlights of magnificent Montenegro, from glamorous lakeside towns to beautiful Adriatic beaches and remote mountain passes. This is the perfect cycling week for anyone looking for a new cycling paradise.

Your Itinerary

Day One: Arrival Day

Fly into Dubrovnik where our team will meet you in arrivals. The transfer to our beautiful hotel in Kotor takes 1hr30. Time to relax and then we have a briefing at 6.30pm and dinner at 7.30pm. Our mechanics are on hand to build bikes before we start riding tomorrow.

Day Two: Kotor to Niksic - 96km and 1618m

Breakfast from 7.30am, we meet at 8.45am for roll out at 9am. We will give you a day bag to put any items you want to access quickly from the support van or at feed stops. The first 25km is pancake flat today as we follow the coast before a lumpier second half of the ride. We have a late lunch in Niksic before loading up into the van for a short transfer to our home for the next two nights, the picturesque mountain town of Zabljak.

Day Three: Ring of Durmitor - 82km and 2101m

One of the best days riding of the year. One of the highlights of Montenegro is the Durmitor national park, an area packed full of limestone peaks, glacial lakes and deep canyons. Conveniently for us cyclists, there is an 80km loop road taking in all the highlights. The road surface is good, the traffic is light and the views are amazing. Up there with the Sella Ronda as one of the best loop rides in Europe. Plenty of time to relax in the afternoon and enjoy the clean mountain air.

Day Four: Zabljak to Kolasin - 82km and 1279m

The easiest day of riding of the week. We leave Zabljak at 10am having a relaxed morning before hitting the road to the ski resort of Kolasin. After a flat 10km we enjoy a thrilling 15km descent before a rolling couple of hours to our base for the evening, the smart Four Points Sheraton hotel.

Day Five: Into Albania - 109km and 1555m

Today we start with with a drive into Albania before starting our ride just before the legendary climb to Grabom. We then ride back into Montenegro and over Skadar Lake & one last climb before finishing in Budva on the Adriatic coast. For those interested, we have a swim in the sea before watching the sunset from our hotel with a couple of beers / glass of wine / cocktail / aperol spritz.

Day Six: Budva to Kotor - Front Group - 133km and 2738m or Main Bunch - 83km and 1623m

Our last ride. We hug the coast for the first 25km before heading inland across to Kotor. At 40km we start the most famous climb in Montenegro up the Serpentine Road. After coffee at the top, you have the option of descending and heading back to our hotel or carrying on with an extra 50km loop with one more climb. In Kotor, our mechanics are on hand to pack bikes before one dinner all together.

Day Seven: Departure Day

After breakfast overlooking the ocean, it is time to say goodbye. We get you back to Dubrovnik airport two hours before your flight.
