Florence Marathon 2022

Depending on the length of stay you have booked with us you might arrive before or depart on different days to the following itinerary. The itinerary below reflects the 3 nights package. Florence has plenty to see and do so we recommend extra nights and optional tours.

Friday 25 November, 2022 – Travel to Florence and optional Welcome Dinner

Make your way to Florence. From the airport, there is a tram service or for more convenience and comfort pre book private transport with us. If you arrive in the morning leave your luggage with the hotel and head off to the Marathon Expo to collect your race documents.  

What about my race bib collection?

The expo is located at Stazione Leopolda, approximately 10 minutes walk from our hotel. Open today until 8.00pm

How do I contact Marathon Tours & Travel staff during my stay?

Staff with local knowledge of Florence and the race will be available to you at certain times. A contact number will be provided with your final documents and itinerary. 

The rest of the day and evening is free for you to enjoy at your leisure.

At 8.00pm join the optional welcome dinner, Tuscan style at a typical restaurant in the city centre of Florence. 

Saturday 26 November, 2022 – Preparation Day, Pasta Party and optional Sightseeing Tour

Relax and enjoy Florence at your own pace. 

What about my race bib collection?

If you didn’t have time to collect your race bib yesterday please do so today. The expo is located inside San Giuliano Park, walking distance from our hotels. Open today 9.00am until 8.00pm

At 10.00am there is an optional guided city walk which can be prebooked with us. Together with an expert tour guide you can explore the most beautiful and unusual corners of Florence, one of the most famous Italian cities known in the world for beauty and culture. During our walk, we will see Piazza della Signoria with the old government at Palazzo Vecchio, the Cathedral, the Baptistery with its “doors to paradise”, the Bell Tower of Giotto, the Cupola of Brunelleschi, the two churches Santa Trinità and Orsanmichele, the old bridge or 'Ponte Vecchio' and the secret passage of Vasari. Last but not least we will pass by some shopping lanes and the fourth district in town Oltrarno – known for its old handcrafts.

At 7.30pm join the pasta party, where you can taste different types of pasta and salads and to finish up with… a sweet “crostata”! 

Sunday 27 November, 2022 : The Florence Marathon

This is the day you have trained so hard for! 

How do I get to the race start?

After an early breakfast you will walk approx 10 minutes from our hotel to the race start at Piazza Duomo. On arrival at the start please follow the instructions of the race officials. 

Family and friends who did not enter the race?

You can travel by foot or public transport in your own time and pace to support and spectate along the race route. The local staff will be happy to advise. 

After the race make your way back to the hotel, freshen up, celebrate…you deserve it!

How do I get to my hotel from the race finish?

The finish area is the same as the start area, Piazza Duomo. Hotel Club 4 is approx 10 minutes walk.

At 7.00pm join the optional marathon party, it’s the party of the Florence Marathon, open to all runners and their companions. The event program includes dinner with Tuscan menu, music, entertainment and dancing… for everybody still having some energy after a 42km race.

Guaranteed Race Entry

We are pleased to offer you guaranteed entry for the 2022 Florence Marathon. You can buy the entry at an additional cost if you also buy the accommodation package with us. 

Starting Times and Bib Numbers

Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the 2022 Florence Marathon, we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.

Closer to the event we will send you instructions which will allow you to complete the registration process for the Florence Marathon. Once you have finalised the registration process, the race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information you provide.

Registration & Bib Collection

Athletes will be able to pick their race numbers up in person at Expo – located at Stazione Leopolda, Viale Fratelli Rosselli 5. For organizational reasons, under no circumstances it will be possible to receive the bibs in advance or pick them up on the day of the race. The timetable of the exhibition will be the following: 

• Friday, 25th November from 10:00am to 8:00pm 
• Saturday, 26th November from 9:00am to 8:00pm 

To get the bib-number it will be necessary to hand out the following documents: 

• an identity card / passport 
• the confirmation letter via smartphone 
• all the documents to complete your registration (if requested from the confirmation letter) 

If the athlete is unable to provide said documents, the Organizing Committee will not hand out the race number.

Minimum age for event participation

The minimum age to participate in the marathon is 20 years

Supporting Documents

To take part in the 2022 Florence Marathon you must complete and sign the Florence Marathon Liability Waiver which includes a medical declaration fit to participate. 

If you’d like to take part in the race and be eligible to win prizes and prize money you will need to purchase a runcard.

Race starts from 08h30 on Sunday 27 November, 2022 in Florence (Piazza Duomo).

The finish line is in Florence (Piazza Duomo).

30km mark: 4h15

How to book

To make your booking, click on the orange button at the top of the page, ensuring that you select the correct number of rooms and types for all members in your party plus all the required extras. When you book, we will require a deposit to confirm your place.

Payments

When you confirm your booking, we will take a deposit payment. Subsequent payments are taken automatically.

The cost of the event entry is non-refundable.

Known locally as Firenze, Florence is a beautiful, famous capital city of the Tuscany region of Italy. 

The old town has many historic and artistic attractions, nominated in 1982 as a UNESCO World Heritage site. There is an abundance of churches, galleries and museums. One of the best views of this charming city is from Piazzale Michaelangelo which from its hilltop setting looks down over the city, beautiful day or night. The Piazzale has bronze reproductions of some of Michaelangelos famous works. Sights not to be missed include; The Duomo cathedral with its terracotta tiled dome and a bell tower, The Galleria dell'Accademia displays Michelangelo’s “David” sculpture, the Uffizi Gallery exhibits Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” and da Vinci’s “Annunciation”, the Ponte Vecchio, a bridge that attracts many visitors to its delightful shops.

Of course to come to Italy and not to relax at a restaurant with a cappuccino or a scoop of gelato would be a crime. Florence really does have it all.
